Alison Domenico Brings Home Gold As Canada Defeats U.S., 3-2, in 2022 Beijing Olympics

BEIJING, China – Providence College women's hockey Associate Head Coach Ali Domenico earned a gold medal at the 2022 Beijing Olympics as an assistant coach after Canada defeated the United States, 3-2, on Wednesday night (Feb. 17). Domenico is the first coach in the history of Providence College women's hockey to earn a gold medal at the Olympic games.
Domenico has coached at various levels with Hockey Canada. She served as an assistant coach for the U-18 Women's National Team in the 2020-21 season and was an assistant coach for the Canadian National Women's Team 'Rivalry Series' in 2019-20. Domenico also served as a coach for the National Women's Development Team Selection Camp (2018-19, 2019-20) and the National Women's Under-18 Team Summer Showcase (2017-18).
Domenico has spent the previous three seasons at Providence College as an assistant coach prior to being promoted to associate head coach in July of 2021. She has spent the entire 2021-22 season with the Canadian Women's National Team. During the 2020-21 season, Domenico helped program to its second NCAA Tournament appearance, and finished the condensed schedule with a 12-8-1 overall record. Providence also advanced to the Hockey East Championship game for the first time since 2012, marking the program's seventh trip to the title game all-time. The Friars spent 14-consecutive weeks in the national rankings, inside the top-10.
