- The Friars welcome back their top-seven scorers from a season ago - Brett Berard (18-20-38), Nick Poisson (10-25-35), Parker Ford (13-14-27), Patrick Moynihan (11-14-25), Max Crozier (7-16-23), Riley Duran (10-9-19) and Jamie Engelbert (7-11-18).
- The team will welcome in 12 new faces into the fold for the 2022-23 season - transfer goaltender from Omaha Austin Roden and Minnesota Duluth defenseman Connor Kelley bring 95 games of combined NCAA hockey experience to the Friars. First-year players include: Austen May (D), Brady Berard (F), Chase Dafoe (F), Liam Valente (F), Bennett Schimek (F), Grant Porter (F), Jaroslav Chmelar (F), Philip Svedeback (G), John Driscoll (G) and Garrett Sundquist (D).
- The returning core played a key part in the Friars' high ranking in many major statistical catagories last season. The team finished in the top-15 in faceoff win percentage (6th, .538), scoring defense (7th, 2.16), power-play percentage (8th, .254), total power-play goals (8th, 35) and penalty-kill percentage (15th, .836).
- The team split a pair of exhibitions this past weekend - defeating Wester Ontario, 5-2, on Saturday before falling to Quinnipiac on the road on Sunday, 4-2.
- Riley Duran led the way for the Friars with two goals and an assist over the two games. New goaltenders Austen Roden (29 saves) and Philip Svedebäck (22 saves) each played a full game over the weekend. Freshman Jaroslav Chmelar registered a point in each game, including a goal at Quinnpiac on Sunday.
Season Openers...
• Since Nate Leaman's arrival in 2011, the Friars are 9-2 all-time in season-openers.On home ice, Providence is 7-0 in season-openers. The Friars and Pioneers will kick off a season for the second, with the last occassion coming in 2012 when Providence earned a 8-2 victory.

The Friars boasted 18 past, present and future players that appeared in NHL Development Camps back in July. Crozier and Ford Named Captains
The Friars anointed seniors Max Crozier and Parker Ford as the team's co-captains for the 2022-23 season. Both players were alternate captains last season.
Crozier Among Returning Defensive Leaders
Max Crozier returns for year four as 10th among active NCAA defenseman in goals with 14 and is tied for fourth overall with eight career power-play goals.
Scoring Returns
The Friars rank fifth among NCAA schools with 86 goals returning from last season.
Young Bucks
Providence ices the sixth youngest roster in the NCAA with an average age of 21.1 years and has a combined 16 first and second year players out of a 29-player roster.
In The Show
Ten former Friars appeared in NHL games during the 2021-22 season: Noel Acciari (FLA), Kasper Bjorkqvist (PIT), Jacob Bryson (BUF), Brandon Duhaime (MIN), Jon Gillies (NJ), Mark Jankowski (BUF), Kevin Rooney (NYR), Brandon Tanev (SEA), Tyce Thompson (NJ) and Jake Walman (DET). Four of those players have joined different clubs over the summer - Acciari (STL), Gillies (ARZ), Jankowski (NSH) and Rooney (CGY).
Friars at the 2022 World Junior Championships
In addition to Nate Leaman and Theresa Feaster being a part of the U.S. National Junior team staff, junior Brett Berard and sophomore Riley Duran each participated in the tournament for the U.S. Freshman Jaroslav Chmelar appeared in three games for Team Czechia.

The Friars are 192-20-20 all-time under Nate Leaman when scoring three or more goals in a game.

Series History vs. Sacred Heart (PC leads 4-0-1, .900)
Friday marks the sixth all-time meeting between Providence and Sacred Heart. The Friars are unbeaten over the first five meetings, posting a 4-0-1 record. In the last meeting in Bridgeport in 2018, the teams skated to a 2-2 tie. The Pioneers pay a visit to Schneider Arena for the first time since Oct. 12, 2012.
