Men’s Basketball Ranked No. 17 in Associated Press Poll and No. 17 In The Coaches Poll

Friars posted two wins last week and climbed in four spots in both polls.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's basketball team is ranked No. 17 in the Associated Press Poll and No. 17 in the most recent Coaches Poll. Both polls were released today (January 24). The Friars, who entered the polls on December 20 at No. 22/23, have been ranked for six consecutive weeks. The Friars were ranked No. 21/21 in both polls last week and climbed in this week's polls after two home victories over Georgetown (83-75) on January 20 and Butler (69-62) on January 23.
The Friars (16-2, 6-1) are off to their best start to a season since 1977-78 when they began the season with a 16-2 mark. Providence has posted Quad 1 wins at Wisconsin, at home versus Texas Tech, at UConn and at home versus Seton Hall. The Friars have a NCAA NET ranking of 39.
The Friars will return to action on Wednesday, January 26 at No. 21/23 Xavier at 6:30 p.m. on CBS Sports Network. The team will play its second game of the week at home when it hosts No. 22 Marquette on Saturday, January 29 at 4:30 p.m. FS1.
