PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College men's basketball team's 2026-27 non-conference schedule was announced today (July 21). The Friars will play 12 non-conference games and two exhibition contests to open the 2026-27 season. Providence will open the regular season against Maine on Monday, Nov. 2 at the Amica Mutual Pavilion.
"We are excited to announce our non-conference schedule for the 2026-27 season," Providence College men's basketball Head Coach
Bryan Hodgson said. "We will have two ACC teams coming in to give us some strong competition during the preseason. For the non-conference slate, we wanted to create a schedule that would prepare us for the BIG EAST season and the NCAA Tournament. Having neutral sites games versus Nebraska out of the Big Ten and Syracuse from the ACC, as well as facing a loaded field of power-conference teams in the Maui Invitational, should present a challenge for our team. We also are looking forward to hosting a Big 12 opponent [Colorado] at the AMP in November."
In addition to their regular-season home opener versus Maine, the Friars' other home games will be versus Bryant (Tuesday, Nov. 10 or Wednesday, Nov. 11), Colorado (Saturday, Nov. 14), Sacred Heart (Tuesday, Nov. 17), Stonehill (Tuesday, Dec. 1) and Fairfield (Tuesday, Dec. 8).
The team's road game during the non-conference season will be at the University of Rhode Island on Saturday, Dec. 5.
In the team's first neutral site contest of the season, the Friars will play 2026 NCAA Tournament participant Nebraska from the Big Ten Conference in the Hall of Fame Tip-Off at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Conn. on Saturday, Nov. 7.
On Saturday, Dec. 19, the Friars will face former BIG EAST member and current ACC foe Syracuse in the Hall of Fame Series at TD Garden in Boston, Mass.
In the team's in-season tournament, the Friars will play three games in the Maui Invitational scheduled for Nov. 23-25 in Maui, Hawaii. The other teams in the tournament are Arizona, BYU, Clemson, Colorado State, Ole Miss, VCU and Washington. Game times and matchups for the Maui Invitational will be released at a later date.
All start times and television information for each game will be announced at a later date.
The Friars will tip off the 2026-27 season with two home exhibition contests against ACC foes. Providence will host Pittsburgh on Saturday, Oct.17 and Georgia Tech on Saturday, Oct. 24. Exhibition games will not be included in the Providence College men's basketball season ticket packages. Season ticket holders will have the opportunity to purchase their regular seats for $15 per seat, per game through Aug. 14. Following that deadline, any remaining inventory will be released for sale to the general public, with lower-level seats available for $35 and upper-level seats for $25. Student tickets will be distributed through the standard claim process. Fans who enroll in "
Friar+" will receive tickets to both exhibition games as part of their membership benefits. The $50-per-seat Friar+ membership also includes guaranteed access to all promotional giveaways during the season, first-priority presale opportunities, and exclusive sponsor offers and discounts throughout the year.
"We appreciate the amazing support of all our fans and season ticket holders," Providence College Athletic Director
Steve Napolillo said. "In this landscape of college athletics where revenue generation is so important, we need your support to help us in our quest to compete for championships. We have tried to limit the financial burden on our fanbase by not raising season ticket prices this season. Thus, we need to maximize revenues in other areas when possible. We have two high-major teams coming to the AMP for the exhibition season and we hope our fans will be able to come out and support the Friars."
