National Grid Foundation Hoops for the Stars Continues Its Impact In Providence Schools

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Fourteen years ago, Providence College and the National Grid Foundation teamed up to start the Hoops for the Stars Program in Providence elementary and middle schools.
Through this initiative, students have the opportunity to earn tickets to Friar men's and women's basketball games as a reward for hard work in the classroom and in the community.
As a graduate of Providence public schools, Head Men's Basketball Coach Ed Cooley is a natural ambassador for Hoops for the Stars and this video narrates how the National Grid Foundation has impacted the schools that Coach Cooley attended growing up in Providence.
In addition to incentives for the students during the winter basketball season, this spring the National Grid Foundation Hoops for the Stars Program will offer a city-wide essay contest for students to showcase their talents and be recognized by Providence College and the National Grid Foundation.
