PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College women's hockey program announced its 2021-22 schedule on Tuesday (Sept. 14). The schedule is comprised of 34 regular season contests, made up of 27 Hockey East games and seven non-conference matches.
The Friars kick off their 2021-22 campaign with an exhibition game at home versus the Boston Pride of the Premier Hockey Federation on Oct.1. The following week, the Friars will open Hockey East play with a pair of home games against New Hampshire and Northeastern on Oct. 8 and Oct.9, respectively. Providence will play a non-conference home-and-home series against Quinnipiac on Oct.15-16. The Friars hit the road the following weekend to visit Union on Oct. 22 and RPI on Oct. 23. Boston University comes to Schneider for a Sunday matinee on Oct. 31.
Providence opens November with a home-and-home series versus Northeastern on Nov. 5-6. The following weekend, Providence will face the Boston College Eagles at home on Nov. 13. The Friars will play a series of single road games starting at UConn on Nov.19, at Maine on Nov. 21, and at Brown University on Nov. 27 for the annual Mayor's Cup. On Nov. 30, the Friars will host Merrimack for a single mid-week match up.
The Friars play a pair of home games versus Princeton on Dec. 3-4 to close out the semester. They will open the post-holiday break with their first matchup against Vermont on Friday, Dec. 31.
The New Year kicks off with two road matches at Holy Cross on Jan. 2 and at Boston College on Jan. 3. The Friars face off against New Hampshire in a road series on Jan. 7-8 and against the Merrimack Warriors in a home-and-home series on Jan. 14-15. January rounds out with a road series at Vermont on Jan. 21-22 before the Friars come back to Schneider for two home games against Maine on Jan. 28-29.
Providence is set to play Holy Cross in a home-and-home series on Feb. 5-6 to start off the final month of the regular season. The Friars then match-up against UConn and Boston University in home-and-homes on Feb. 11-12 and Feb. 18-19, respectively.
The Hockey East Quarterfinals will take place at campus site starting on Feb. 25.
A third contest will be announced against Boston College at a later date.
