Women’s Hockey Earns Thirteen Hockey East All-Academic Team Selections

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Thirteen members of the Providence College women's hockey program were named to the Hockey East All-Academic Team today (June 25). In total, 167 female student-athletes were selected to the team after achieving at least a 3.0 grade-point average in both the fall and spring semesters.
Chloe Gonsalves (Toronto, Ontario) earned the prestigious honor of being named Hockey East's Top Scholar-Athlete after achieving a perfect 4.0 GPA for the season. As one of only nine student-athletes to accomplish a 4.0 during the 2020-21 season, those players were selected to the 2020-21 Hockey East Academic All-Star Team.
Hayley Lunny (Bedford, N.Y.) and Gonsalves were named as distinguished scholars, and were two of only 19 student-athletes in the league to earn the distinction. Gonsalves and Lunny earned at least a 3.0 GPA in each semester of their four varsity season.
Sandra Abstreiter (Freising, Germany), Caroline Peterson (East Falmouth, Mass.), Annelise Rice (Excelsior, Minn.), and Giana Savastano (Mapleville, R.I.) were four of 35 players that earned All-Academic Team status for the third time in their respective careers. Jamie Comeau (Wakefield, R.I.) and Sara Hjalmarsson (Bankeryd, Sweden) were honored for the second time in their careers.
First-time honorees include Hunter Barnett (Caledon, Ontario), Brooke Becker (Orchard Park, N.Y.), KC Brooks (Colorado Springs, Colo.), Mireille Kingsley (Sudbury, Ontario) and Chloe McNeil (Ottawa, Ontario).
