Kansas City, Mo.- United Soccer Coaches announced its regional teams on Tuesday, May 11.
Alexis Rothmann (Norwell, Mass.) earned All-East Region First Team recognition and
Christina Rodgers (Scotch Plains, N.J.) and
Meg Hughes (Rochester, Mass.) were named to the All-East Region Second Team. This is the first time receiving this honor for all three athletes.
Rothmann started in all nine games she appeared in for the Friars. Rothmann played a pivotal role for the Friars in the midfield. Rothmann earned 2021 All-BIG EAST First Team Honors and was named to the 2019 BIG EAST All-Freshman Team.
Rodgers started in all 12 games for the Friars and played all 1,140 minutes on the back line. Rodgers scored the game-tying goal on a penalty kick against St. John's on April 11th. She played a key role in the Friars' defense that recorded six shutouts this season. Additionally, Rodgers earned 2021 All-BIG EAST Second Team Honors.
Hughes appeared in all 12 games for the Friars and cracked the starting lineup four times. She led the Friars in points (14), assists (six) and tied for the team lead in goals (four). On March 28th against Seton Hall, Hughes tallied a season-high five points on one goal and three assists. Hughes ended the regular-season ranked among the top-10 in five different statistical categories in the BIG EAST. Hughes ranks second in assists per game (.50), overall assists (six) and shot accuracy (.625). Additionally, she ranks fifth in total points (14) and seventh in points per game (1.17). Hughes was named 2021 BIG EAST Freshman of the Year. Additionally, she was named to the 2021 All-BIG EAST Second Team and the 2021 All-Freshman Team. Hughes is the second player in program history to earn BIG EAST Freshman of the Year.

United Soccer Coaches serves as the recognized leader in naming All-Region and All-America soccer players. United Soccer Coaches selects All-America teams at every level of play. Nearly 800 players each year are named United Soccer Coaches All-Americans. Nearly 800 players each year are named United Soccer Coaches All-Americas and are invited to the Convention to be honored at a special ceremony.
