Men’s Soccer Falls to Franklin Pierce, 2-1, In Regular Season Finale

Adam Riis scored his first career goal.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men's soccer team fell to the Franklin Pierce Ravens, 2-1, on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium in Providence, R.I. The Friars moved to 4-4-1 overall on the season. Adam Riis (Hellerup, Denmark) scored his first career goal in the 64th minute.

GAME FLOW & NOTES 
-The Ravens opened up scoring in the 8th minute of play. From 20 yards out, Pedro Juan Vicente found the back of the net to give Franklin Pierce an early 1-0 lead. 
-Marco Perez shot a dagger to the bottom left of the net in the 35th minute. Keeper Rimi Olatunji (Brampton, Ontario) made the diving save to hold the Ravens lead at one. 
- Franklin Pierce controlled the first half with their speed and defense. They did not allow the Friars to record a shot in the first 45 minutes of action. The Ravens took four shots in the first half with three being on goal. 
-The Friars held the advantage in corner kicks, 4-3. 
-Providence goalie Lukas Burns (Cinnaminson, N.J.) made his collegiate debut starting in net for the second half.
- The Ravens struck first in the second half to extend their lead, 2-0. Aaron Artes travelled up the far side and crossed the ball to Miguel Angel Pastor Guiterrez. In the box, Guiterrez tipped the ball past Burns for the goal. 
-Riis put the Friars on the board in the 64th minute of play. After a great attempt by Luis Garcia (Gran Canaria, Spain) off a free kick, Riis found the rebound where he scored. Ravens held the lead, 2-1. 
-Nine yellow cards were handed out in 90 minutes of play. The Friars received six while the Ravens were given three. Franklin Pierce edged Providence in shots, 11-4.

1-0 (FP) – 7:06/1st – Pedro Juan Vicente – Vicente scored from 20-yards out in the lower left of the net. 
2-0 (FP) – 48:31/2nd – Miguel Angel Pastor Gutierrez (Artes) – Artes crossed the ball into the box where Gutierrez converted with is left foot in the lower right of the net. 
2-1 (PC) – 63:35/2nd – Adam Riis – Riis headed the ball into the net off Raven's goalie deflection.
