Bodmer and Hughes Claim BIG EAST Weekly Awards

The awards recognize performances in a 0-0 tie against #12 Georgetown and a 4-0 victory over Seton Hall.

New York, N.Y.- Providence College women's soccer player Emma Bodmer (Monroe Township, N.J.) was named BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week on Monday, March 29. Additionally, Meg Hughes (Rochester, Mass.) was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week. The Friars went 1-0-1 on the last week with a 0-0 tie against No. 12 Georgetown in double-overtime and a 4-0 victory over Seton Hall.
 
Bodmer earned back-to-back shutouts this week, marking her second and third solo shutout of the season. The Friars are the first team this season to hold the 12th-ranked Hoyas scoreless in a match. Bodmer tallied 12 saves on the week, with four against the Hoyas and eight against the Pirates. 
 
Hughes had an impact on all four of the Friars' goals against Seton Hall as she tallied five points on one goal and three assists. Her goal came in the 37th minute of play to put Providence ahead 2-0, and also earned assists in the 3rd minute, 64th minute and 70th minute. Through nine games, Hughes leads the team in assists (six), points (12) and is tied for first in goals (three).
 
The 6-2-1 Friars return to action on Monday, April 5th against the Villanova Wildcats. Kick-off is set for 1:00 p.m. in Villanova, Pa.
