PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Freshmen defenders
Brooke Becker (Orchard Park, N.Y.) and
Claire Tyo (Massena, N.Y.) of the Providence College women's hockey team have been named to the Hockey East Pro Ambitions All-Rookie Team, as announced by the league today (Feb. 26).
Becker has 11 points on two goals and nine assists so far in her rookie campaign. She is second on the team in assists and is tied for second in most points. Two of her assists have come as game-winners, with three points coming on the power play this year. Becker is tied for first in assists among all Hockey East Rookies. In total, she's posted 39 shots and is +2.
Tyo has nine points on three goals and six assists. She is third on the team in points and fourth on the team in assists. Tyo scored the game winning goal against Merrimack on Jan. 17 and two of her assists have also served as game winners. She is tied for first in power play points among all Hockey East rookies (5). The rookie defenseman has 41 recorded shots and is +3 on the season.
Hockey East will announce the 2020-21 All-Star Teams tomorrow, Saturday, February 27 at 11:00 a.m. ahead of the quarterfinals on Sunday. The league will then announce finalists for the Player, Rookie, and Coach of the Year awards on Monday, March 1 at 1:00 p.m. The winners of those awards will then be revealed prior to the semifinals on Wednesday, March 3.
