PROVIDENCE, R.I.- Providence College women's soccer goalkeeper
Shelby Hogan (Franklin, Mass.) signed a professional contract with Portland Thorn FC of the National Women's Soccer League's (NWSL) today [Feb. 11].

Hogan lived up to the expectations in the Friars' most recent season (2019), as she was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team as well as BIG EAST Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year. She also earned BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week, twice, in 2019. She went on to become the program's first BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year award recipient at the conclusion of the season. She also was selected to the All-BIG EAST First Team, having earned Second-Team honors each of her first two years with the Friars.
Hogan started all 20 games in net for the Friars in 2019, tallying 1,887 minutes. She posted five shutouts with a career-high 110 saves. She allowed 23 goals for 1.10 goals against average and registered a .827 save percentage. Hogan ranked first in the BIG EAST and 14
th among NCAA Division I goalkeepers in saves, with 110.
For her career, Hogan holds 0.97 goals against average, including 288 career saves, a .828 save percentage and 21 shutouts. Hogan's career record at Providence is 29-22-7. She tied the program record for shutouts in a season [10] during her junior campaign. Hogan is a two-time United Soccer Coaches All-East Region Third Team selection (2018, 2019) and a NEWISA All-New England Second Team pick (2019).
Hogan is the second Friar to be signed by an NWSL team. Catherine Zimmerman '16 appeared on the Western New York Flash and Sky Blue FC.
Hogan earned a Bachelor of Science in Management in May of 2020. She previously planned to return to Providence College as a graduate student.
