Janai Crooms Named To BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

Crooms averaged 19.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 7.0 assists in a 2-0 week for the Friars.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Junior Janai Crooms (Cranston, R.I.) earned BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll accolades for the second time this season on Dec. 13. The Providence College guard averaged 19.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 7.0 assists in a 2-0 week for the Friars.
Crooms recorded 14 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists and two blocked shots at Brown on Dec. 8. She closed the week with 24 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, one steal and one blocked shot against Quinnipiac (Dec. 11). For the week, she shot an impressive 59.2-percent from the foor (16-27). Her 24 points against the Bobcats marked the second 20+ point game this season and was one-point shy of her season high.
Through 11 games with the Friars, Crooms is averaging 14.6 points, 10.1 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.2 blocks per game. She is one of just two players in the BIG EAST Conference averaging a double-double, and also leads the league in double-digit rebounding games (seven) and is tied for the league lead in double-doubles (five).
The Friars return to action on Sunday, Dec. 19 against Creighton in BIG EAST action. The game will tip-off at 1:00 p.m. at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I.
