Hughes And Rothmann Named To The United Soccer Coaches All-East Region Second Team

KANSAS CITY, Mont. – United Soccer Coaches announced its regional teams on Monday, November 30. Sophomore Meg Hughes (Rochester, Mass.) and junior Alexis Rothmann (Norwell, Mass.) earned All-East Region Second Team recognition.

Hughes started in all 20 games for the Friars. She led the Friars in points (22), goals (9) and tied for second in assists (4). She had a point in 11 out of 20 matches, including a two-goal game against Monmouth on Sept. 5 for a season high of four points. Hughes concluded the regular season ranked in the top-10 in six different statistical categories in the BIG EAST. She ranked third in goals (nine) and goals per game (0.50), fifth in points (22) and points per game (1.22). She also ranked first in shots (70) and shots per game (3.89). Additionally, Hughes was named to the 2021 All-BIG EAST First Team.

Rothmann also started in all 20 games for the Friars. Rothmann played a pivotal role for the Friars in the midfield playing over 1800 minutes. She scored her first collegiate goal against Stony Brook on Sept. 2. Rothmann earned 2021 All-BIG EAST Second Team honors.

United Soccer Coaches serves as the recognized leader in naming All-Region and All-America soccer players. United Soccer Coaches selects All-America teams at every level of play. Nearly 800 players each year are named United Soccer Coaches All-Americans and are invited to the Convention to be honored at a special ceremony.
