No. 25 Men’s Soccer Defeats St. John’s In Double-Overtime

Paulo Lima scored the game-wing goal in the 102nd minute.

JAMAICA, N.Y. – The No. 25 Providence College men's soccer team defeated the St. John's Red Storm on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1-0, in double overtime. Paulo Lima (Lisbon, Portugal) scored the lone goal for the Friars in the 102nd minute.

GAME FLOW & NOTES

•  A closely contested first half ended in a scoreless tie (0-0). Both teams had six shots in the first half.
• St. John's goalkeeper Luka Gavran (Ontario, Canada) posted three saves in the first half.
• The second half also was scoreless, and both teams entered overtime period with nine shots.
• In the first overtime period, the Friars outshot the Red Storm, 3-1.
• In the 102nd minute, during the second overtime, Lima scored for the Friars to win the game.
