PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men's soccer team is ranked 18th in the most recent United Soccer Coaches National Poll, released on Oct. 26. It marks the sixth-consecutive week that the Friars have been among the top-25 in the national poll.
Providence is currently 9-2-3 on the year, including a 5-1-2 mark in the BIG EAST Conference. The Friars are 3-1-0 vs. nationally ranked opponents this season, including a decisive 3-0 victory against then-No. 1 and previously unbeaten Georgetown on Oct. 13.
With two games remaining on the regular-season schedule, the Friars are ranked second in the BIG EAST standings. Providence also ranks 12th in the most recent NCAA RPI. Providence features one of the most potent offenses in the nation. The Friars rank 13th in the nation in total points (100), 14th in total goals (33) and 16th in scoring offense (2.36). Providence leads the BIG EAST in each of those offensive categories, in addition to ranking second in the conference and 16th among NCAA Division I soccer programs in total assists (34).
The Friars return to action on Saturday, Oct. 30 against BIG EAST foe Villanova. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium in Providence, R.I. The Friars are unbeaten at Anderson Stadium this season, having posted a 6-0-1 mark.
