GAME FLOW & NOTES
Northeastern got off to a quick start in the first period with a shorthanded goal from Chloe Aurard on Providence's power play (3:06). On her fourth goal of the season, Aurard was assisted by Alina Mueller.
The Friars outshot the Huskies in the first by a 14-6 margin but were unable to capitalize and went into the first intermission down 1-0.
The Huskies kicked off the second period with a goal by Katy Knoll, with only 1:34 on the clock. Assisted by Andrea Renner and Veronika Pettey, Knoll's goal gave the Huskies a 2-0 lead.
Freshman
Claire Tyo (Massena, N.Y.) cut into Northeastern's lead in the final seconds of the middle frame on a shot off the crossbar, sending the Friars into the second intermission down by one, 2-1. Tyo was assisted by
Caroline Peterson (East Falmouth, Mass.) and
Brooke Becker (Orchard Park, N.Y.) on Providence's sole point of the game.
The Huskies added two more goals in the final period from Veronika Pettey (13:41) and Molly Griffin on an empty netter (17:03), to close out the game at 4-1.
