Women’s Hockey Falls To UNH In Hockey East Quarterfinals, 1-0

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The No. 6 seeded University of New Hampshire Wildcats scored the lone goal of the game with 7:59 remaining in the third period to defeat the No. 3 seeded Providence College women's hockey team, 1-0, on Friday, Feb. 28 in game two of the Hockey East Quarterfinals. Providence was eliminated from the Hockey East Tournament and finish the season with a 18-14-4 record with a 15-10-2 Hockey East mark.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
- Neither side could find the back of the cage in the opening 20 minutes. Providence held a 13-4 advantage in shots while the Wildcats and Friars both failed to convert on their lone power play opportunities.
- The scoreless game continued through the second period while Providence increased their shot advantage to 27-9. 
- Providence built a strong chance with just under 12 minutes left in the second period but Ava Boutilier turned away three separate shots on a three-on-one break. 
- New Hampshire scored the game-winning goal 12:01 into the final frame. Lauren Martin put a shot on net from the right circle that trickled to the far post on the rebound, Tori Howran crashed the net and finished her shot past Sandra Abstreiter (Freising, Germany). 
- Hayley Lunny (Bedford, N.Y.) led the charge on offense posting 10 shots on net with Meaghan Rickard (Coventry, R.I.) adding six shots. 
- Abstreiter finishes her sophomore campaign with a 9-9-2 overall record and 1.74 goals against average. She finished the night with 14 saves.
