PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College women's tennis team was narrowly defeated by Fairfield University, 4-3, in dual match play held at Centre Court in Providence, R.I. on Saturday (Feb. 22). The Friars fall to 1-3 overall in dual matches this spring.
The Friars battled hard in doubles play, fighting back from 2-5 deficits in the No.1 and No. 3 matches before ultimately falling 7-6 in both. The duo of

Brenna Magliochetti scored a 6-2 win in the No. 2 slot. Magliochetti continued her strong play in singles, earning a convincing 6-3, 6-0 win to level the match at 1-1.
Vannelie Melendez put the Friars up 2-1 with a 6-3, 6-2 win out of the No. 5 slot. Providence won the first sets in five of the six singles matches, but Fairfield rallied with key victories in slots No. 2-4.
Julia Migliorini earned the other singles win for the Friars, rallying for a 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 win in the No. 1 slot.
Providence is back in action in Orlando, Fla. on March 9 against Millsaps College.
