Xavier Pulls Away In Fourth Quarter To Defeat Friars, 64-50

Kyra Spiwak netted a game-high 19 points for Providence.
CINCINNATI, OHIO – The Providence College women's basketball team fell to Xavier, 64-50, on Dec. 31 at the Cintas Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.
FIRST QUARTER:
• Xavier went on a 6-0 run to take an 8-4 lead midway through the first quarter.
• Kyra Spiwak (Arlington Heights, Ill.) halted the run with her second three-pointer of the game, bringing Providence within one (8-7) at the media timeout (3:42).
• The Musketeers took a 12-11 lead at the end of the quarter.
• Spiwak recorded seven of the Friars' 11 points in the frame.
SECOND QUARTER:
• The Friars started the quarter with a 6-0 spurt to take a 17-12 lead.
• Providence was scoreless over the next 4:05 and committed four turnovers during that span, but still managed to take a 17-16 lead into the media timeout (4:38).
• Chanell Williams (Bronx, N.Y.) nailed a three out of the break to get the Friars back on the board for a 20-16 advantage at the 4:01 mark.
• Xavier took a 24-22 lead with 1:24 remaining in the first half with a 6-0 run.

• Williams opened the quarter with a steal and coast-to-coast lay-up to tie the game, 41-41.
