Women's Basketball Signs Six Student-Athletes

Six future Friars signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Providence College beginning in the fall of 2021.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College women's basketball Head Coach Jim Crowley announced today [Nov. 11] that six student-athletes have signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the college beginning in the fall of 2021 and compete as members of his program. The committed student-athletes represent five different states and include: Emily Archibald (Kennebunk, Maine), Meghan Huerter (Clifton Park, N.Y.), Audrey Koch (North Liberty, Iowa), Olivia Olsen (Niskayuna, N.Y.), Nariah Scott (Holden, Mass.) and Kylee Sheppard (Cincinnati, Ohio).
"These six student-athletes all come from incredible families and great programs," Head Coach Jim Crowley said. "They have been coached very well and know how to take that coaching and turn it into success. We have added talent, depth and versatility, but most importantly we have added six hard-working, high-character student-athletes who can't wait to be Friars."
Archibald is a 6'-0" forward who currently attends Kennebunk High School. She averaged a double-double in each of her first three seasons with 16.2 points and 14.8 rebounds per game. As a junior in 2019-20, Archibald averaged an impressive 20.0 points, 13.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.6 steals per game. Heading into her final season at Kennebunk, she is on the brink of reaching the 1,000 point/1,000 rebound milestone with current career totals of 941 points and 848 boards. She is a three-time All-State selection and was named Maine Gatorade Player of the Year in 2020. Archibald also earned SMAA Co-Player of the Year as a sophomore (2019) and SMAA Player of the Year in 2020. She played AAU for Southern Maine Shock.
"Emily is a versatile forward who will fit how we play very well," Crowley said. "She can play every position on the floor and will only get better. She comes from great programs and is a proven leader."
Huerter is a 5'-11" guard who has led Shenendehowa to three-straight Suburban Council Section 2 Championships. As a junior, she averaged 17.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game. She shot an impressive 47-percent from the field, including 41-percent from beyond the three-point arc and also converted 85-percent of her opportunities at the free-throw line. During her career she has been named Second-Team All-State, Suburban Council First-Team, Sectional Championship Most Valuable Player and Section 2 All-Star First Team. Huerter played AAU ball for the Albany City Rocks, along with fellow incoming Friar Olivia Olsen.
"Meg can shoot it really well and has worked very hard to become a consistent scoring threat," Crowley said. "She has a good work ethic and a really high level of competitiveness. She comes from a great basketball family and is a true student of the game."
Koch, a 5'-10" guard, attends Iowa City West High School, where she has led her team to an Iowa 5A State Championship (2018) and two conference titles (2018, 2019). As a junior, Koch averaged 18.5 points and 5.3 rebounds per game, while shooting 49.8-percent from the floor and 81.3-percent from the foul line. She is a two-time First-Team All-Conference selection (2019, 2020) and also earned Honorable Mention accolades in 2018. Koch was tabbed MVC Player of the Year and Second-Team All-State as a junior (2020) and was a Third-Team All-State honoree in 2019. She played AAU for Iowa Martin Brothers.
"Audrey is someone who plays hard and uses her length very well," Crowley said. "She attacks the rim and can create problems with her defensive ability. Audrey has a good work ethic and can play a number of positions."
Olsen is listed as a 6'-3" small forward and currently attends Niskayuna High School, where she has amassed over 900 points in two seasons with the varsity squad. As a junior during the 2019-20 season, Olsen averaged a triple-double for Niskayuna with 23.0 points, 15.0 rebounds and 10.0 blocked shots per game. She owns the school record for most blocks at Niskayuna and that total is expected to grow during the 2020-21 campaign. Olsen is a 2020 Third-Team All-State selection (AA large schools) and has earned Second-Team All-Area (2019) and First-Team All-Area (2020) accolades. She played AAU basketball with fellow incoming Friar Meghan Huerter on Albany City Rocks.
"Liv seems to get better every time she steps on the floor," Crowley said. "She has some real athletic gifts and has worked hard to match her skills to those gifts. She continues to increase her range and comfort on the perimeter. Her best basketball is in front of her."
Scott is a 5'-10" guard who began her high school career at Wachusett Regional High School (2017-18) before enrolling at Tabor Academy (2018-present). As a sophomore at Tabor Academy, she averaged 10.2 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. Last season, Scott put up 11.7 points and 8.1 boards per contest. She helped guide Wachusett to the 2018 District Championship and in 2019, she helped propel Tabor to the ISL title and was an Honorable Mention selection (ISL). Scott competed for the Bay State Jaguars on the AAU circuit.
"Nariah has the ability to knock down the three, but also can attack the rim with a consistent level of success and physicality," Crowley said. "She has a true love for the game and has been very well coached. Nariah has a high level of skill and a great deal of versatility."
Sheppard is a 5'-9" point guard who currently attends Roger Bacon High School. During her junior season in 2019-20, she averaged 12.9 points, 4.9 assists and 3.6 steals per game on her way to earning GCL Player of the Year. She finished the season ranked first in the conference in assists and steals and fifth in scoring. Sheppard has guided Roger Bacon to two-straight GCL League Championships (2019, 2020) and ranks among the top five all-time at Roger Bacon in scoring. She played AAU for Angels Basketball Club and Ohio Elite.
"Kylee is a true point guard, leader and winner," Crowley said. "She knows how to find people where they like the ball and makes her teammates better. She can get in the paint and knock down the three, and also can really defend the ball."
