Women’s Hockey Assistant Coach Ali Domenico Named To Hockey Canada National Staff

CALGARY, Alta. – Hockey Canada finalized its roster for the final three Rivalry Series games on Wednesday, Jan. 22, including 23 players as well as the coaching staff. Providence College assistant coach Ali Domenico was named an assistant coach on the staff as the Rivalry Series will be played in Victoria and Vancouver, B.C., and Anaheim, Calif. from Feb. 3-8. Domenico's role will be her first on a national team roster after coaching for Syracuse University and The Ohio State University prior to her arrival Providence College.
"The Rivalry Series games in December gave our coaches and staff another opportunity to evaluate our players and assess the depth of our roster, while seeing where we are in terms of competitiveness against our strongest rival," said Head Coach Gina Kingsbury. "We mutually agreed with USA Hockey not to include any student-athletes for these three games, and with that in mind have assembled a veteran line-up that will once again prove to be competitive against the United States. We will continue to evaluate our full group as we look towards competing at the World Championship in Halifax."
The best-on-best competition between the cross-border rivals is the final tune-up for Canada's National Women's Team prior to the 2020 IIHF Women's World Championship, set for March 31-April 10 in Halifax and Truro, N.S.
Domenico, an Ottawa native, played for Team Ontario in 2003 and 2005. She was a captain as the team won the gold medal at the Under-18 national tournament in 2005. She was also a gold medalist at the 2003 Canada Winter Games.
