Jack Dugan (Rochester, N.Y.) and
Tyce Thompson (Milford, Conn.) have been nominated for the Hobey Baker Award, given annually to the top player in Division I men's hockey.

After posting 39 points during his rookie campaign in 2018-19, Dugan has raced out to the national scoring lead this season with 41 points in 23 games played. He tops all NCAA players in assists (34), points per game (1.78), power-play points (17) and even-strength points (24). His 14 games of at least two points, five games of at least three points and three games of four points also are the most in the nation. Dugan is a two-time Hockey East Player of the Week selection and was the league's player of the month for October.

Thompson has already eclipsed his 25-point total from last season with 35 points on 17 goals and 18 assists. The 17 goals are tied for the national lead, 10 of those goals have given the Friars a lead this season. He has also registered a goal in 15-of-23 games this season, which leads all NCAA players and has 13 multi-point efforts. Thompson is the reigning Hockey East Player of the Week after totaling two goals and two assists in two wins last week.

Fan voting for the Hobey Baker Award is now live and will run through March 9. Phase two of fan voting will begin on March 18 after the announcement of the top-10 nominees. The Hobey Hat Trick finalists will be revealed on April 2 with the winner being announced on April 10 at the Frozen Four in Detroit, Mich.

THE HOBEY BAKER AWARD
There are four criteria against which nominees for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award are considered:
- Strength of character, on and off the ice
- Contribution to the integrity of the team and outstanding skills in all phases of the game
- Scholastic achievement and sportsmanship
- Compliance with all NCAA rules, including being a full-time student in an accredited college or university and completing 50 percent or more of the season
