PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College sophomore
Tyce Thompson (Milford, Conn.) was named the Hockey East Player of the Week for first time in his career on Monday (Jan. 13).
Thompson tied for the Hockey East lead in points over the last week with four over two games. Thompson added a power-play goal and the shorthanded game-winning goal at AIC on Thursday before registering assists on both of the Friars' goals in a 2-1 win over UConn on Saturday night. Jack Dugan in the NCAA scoring race, while his 17 goals are tied for first among all NCAA players. He has registered a point in 20-of-23 games and has 13 multi-point efforts this season.
Providence, currently ranked No. 11 in the latest USCHO.com poll, will open a home-and-home series against New Hampshire on Friday (Jan. 17) before traveling up to Durham on Saturday (Jan. 18). Both games will be aired live on NESN.
