Christina Rodgers Named To BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

Rodgers tallied one goal and one assist in the Friars’ season opening win.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College's Christina Rodgers (Scotch Plains, N.J.) received BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll recognition on Aug. 26. Providence posted a 1-1 record on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium to open the season, with a 2-1 win over UConn (Aug. 22) before a 1-0 setback to UMass (Aug. 25).
 
Rodgers helped open the scoring against UConn after playing a deep ball to Kelsie Cummings (Millbury, Mass.) up the right side. Cummings hit a low cross to Hannah McNulty (Warwick, R.I.) running into the box, who finished with her right foot to give the Friars' a 1-0 lead. Five minutes later, Rodgers scored the eventual game-winning goal after slotting a penalty kick. She finished with three points in the season opener.
