Last Time Out
- Providence rushed out to an early 2-0 lead and finished the night off with a 4-1 win at UMass Lowell on Saturday, Dec. 7.
- Tyce Thompson connected for his NCAA-leading 13th goal of the season, while freshman defenseman Cam McDonald registered his third game-winning goal of the season.
- Patrick Moynihan added his seventh, while Greg Printz struck for his 11th goal of the season.
- Michael Lackey stopped 27-of-28 shots he faced in the win.
 
Dynamic Duo
- Providence's Jack Dugan and Tyce Thompson are ranked first and second, respectively, in total point production so far this season. Dugan leads the nation with 33 total points on six goals and 27 assists. His 27 assists are also a nation-best. Thompson has 13 goals and 14 assists for 27 total points. His 13 goals are tied for first in the nation.
- In 17 games, Dugan has registered 13 multi-point outings.
- Thompson has 10 multi-point games and 15 games with at least one point. He's currently on a career-long eight-game point streak (6-7-13). Thompson has registered a goal in 12 of 17 games this season.
 
Crozier Making His Mark
Freshman defenseman and Tampa Bay Lightning prospect Max Crozier ranks third among all NCAA rookie defensemen in scoring with 11 points. His nine assists rank second, while his +11 rating ranks second among all freshmen blueliners.
 
Underclassmen Success
The Providence sophomore class ranks first nationally among second-year classes in scoring with 82 points on 25 goals and 57 assists. The Friars' freshman class ranks fourth nationally among other rookie classes in scoring with 52 points on 22 goals and 30 assists.
 
Ford Makes U.S. National Junior Team Roster
Freshman Parker Ford earned a spot on the final 23-player roster for Team USA at the 2020 World Junior Championship that began on Thursday (Dec. 26) in the Czech Republic.
 
Spreading Out the Points
Nineteen different Friars have at least one point so far this season. Eight of those players have 10+ points and three of them are averaging more than a point per game.
 
Striking First
- Providence has scored the game's first goal in 15 out of 17 games so far this season. The Friars are 8-5-2 when scoring first this season.
 
Outscoring Opponents
- Providence has outscored its opponents 65-44 so far this season. The Friars are tied for 10th nationally in scoring margin, with a 1.24 differential.
- Providence ranks fifth nationally in scoring offense, averaging 3.82 goals per game.
 
Strong on the Power Play

Historic Pace
Dugan currently sits at 33 points. He is currently on pace for 66 points in 34 regular season games. The last Friar to reach 50 points was Devin Rask in 2000-01, while Mike Boback was the last to reach 60 points with his 72-point season in 1991-92. The program single-season record for points was Ron Wilson's 87 points in 1974-75.

CATAMOUNT CUP
The Friars will make their second appearance in the Catamount Cup tournament after winning it in 2014. Providence defeated UMass, 4-1 and Vermont 3-0 to claim the title.
 
SERIES HISTORY VS. LAKE SUPERIOR STATE
• The Friars and Lakers will meet for the first time since 2006. It will be just the seventh meeting all-time between the two schools.
• Providence claimed the first five meetings before the Lakers took a 2-1 decision at the Badger Hockey Showdown in 2006.
 
SCOUTING THE LAKERS
• The Lakers enter the weekend at 6-15-1 overall, but are coming off a 3-2 overtime win over then No. 10 Bowling Green in their last outing on Dec. 14.
• Lake State is led by senior Max Humitz who ranks 10th nationally with 11 goals.
• Hampus Eriksson, Pierre-Luc Veillette, Ashton Calder, Louis Boudon and Yuki Miura all have registered at least 10 points this season.
• In goal, Mareks Mitens has started 20-of-22 games in posting a 3.16 GAA and .894 save percentage.
 
SERIES HISTORY VS. UNION
• The Friars and Dutchmen will meet for the first time since the 2014 NCAA East Regional Final in Bridgeport, Conn. where Union advanced to the Frozen Four with a 3-1 win and eventually claimed the national championship.
• Providence is 7-3-1 overall against Union, but the Dutchmen have claimed the previous two meetings.
 
SCOUTING THE DUTCHMEN
• Union enters the weekend winners of three-of-four after downing Merrimack, 3-2, in its last game on Dec. 13.
• Senior Anthony Rinaldi leads the way in scoring with four goals and seven assists, while Sean Harrison and Gabriel Seger have each posted seven points.
• Junior Darion Hanson has posted a 2.79 GAA and .907 save percentage while starting all 17 games for the Dutchmen in 2019-20.
