Earlette Scott led the Friars with 17 points.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Ball State out-scored Providence 18-10 in the fourth quarter to claim a 52-51 victory on Dec. 19 at the Lobo Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. It marked the Friars' second-straight loss as the team dropped to 8-3 overall. Ball State, who also defeated BIG EAST members Butler and Xavier earlier this season, improved to 6-4.
FIRST QUARTER:
• Ball State scored the game's first six points before Earlette Scott (Brooklyn, N.Y.) got Providence on the board at the 4:47 mark (6-2).
• Providence trailed 10-6 after 10 minutes of play, as it shot just 23.5-percent from the field (4-17).
SECOND QUARTER:
• The Friars used an 8-0 run during a span of over five minutes to gain a 20-14 lead. Kyra Spiwak (Arlington Heights, Ill.) scored four points in the spurt.
• Providence out-scored Ball State, 15-7, in the second quarter and took a 21-17 lead into halftime.
• Spiwak led six Friars in the scoring column with five points, while Scott, Olivia Orlando (Georgetown, Mass.) and Andrea Cooper (Edmond, Okla.) each chipped in four points.
• Providence finished the half 0-8 from three-point territory.
THIRD QUARTER:
• Providence took a 32-26 lead on a reverse lay-up by Spiwak with 4:45 left on the clock, forcing a Ball State timeout.
• Out of the break, Providence got a defensive stop and Scott drilled a baseline three on the other end for a 35-26 advantage.
• Ball State's Oshlynn Brown got loose on a fast break and converted a lay-up at the buzzer to end the quarter.
FOURTH QUARTER:
• Mary Baskerville (Enfield, Conn.) converted a traditional three-point play to open the fourth and give the Friars their first double-digit lead of the game (44-34).
• Ball State answered with an 11-0 run to take a 45-44 lead with 4:28 to play.
• Providence was scoreless for 5:34 until Scott halted the run with a pair of free throws coming out of the media timeout to give the Friars a one-point cushion (46-45).
• The Friars extended their lead to four (51-47) with a 5-2 scoring edge capped by a Baskerville free throw at 2:09.
• Providence maintained its lead until Jasmin Samz converted back-to-back baskets for Ball State on a lay-up with 45-seconds left and a contested three with nine-seconds remaining.
• The Friars called timeout to advance the ball, trailing 52-51.
• Baskerville got a look down low on the right block, and Scott got the offensive board, but bobbled the ball before putting up a wild shot while falling to the ground.
• Ball State held an eight-point scoring advantage in the fourth quarter (18-10), marking its highest scoring quarter of the game.

• The Friars will play their fourth game in a span of five days, tomorrow [Dec. 20], on the final day of the Lobo Invitational.
• For the second-straight game, Providence had just one player in double figures.
• Scott led Providence with 17 points and added five rebounds.
• Orlando tallied eight points and a team-high eight rebounds.
• Baskerville played just 12 minutes due to foul trouble and contributed six points, seven rebounds and three blocked shots.
• Brown led Ball State with 14 points and 14 rebounds, while Samz added 13.
