PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men's soccer team fell to the Georgetown Hoyas, 3-1, in the BIG EAST Championship game on Sunday, Nov. 17 on Shaw Field in Washington, D.C. The Hoyas scored all three goals in the second half to give them the win.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
- In the 14
th minute the Friars took an early lead to make the score 1-0.
Tiago Mendonca (Faro, Portugal) put the ball in the lower right of the net from just outside the 6-yard box on a cross from
Esben Wolf (Copenhagen, Denmark).
- Through the first half both teams had an even amount of possession. The friars got off six shots with three on goal and the Hoyas got seven off with two on goal.
- Neither team saw a corner kick in the first 45 minutes of play. Georgetown took the first one of the game in the 47
th minute.
- Georgetown's Dante Polvara found the equalizer in the 56
th minute on a penalty kick.
- In the 73
rd minute the Hoyas took the lead off a free kick. Jack Beer took the shot from the top of the box and slipped the ball just inside the right goalpost past goalie,
Austin Aviza (Medway, Mass.).
- In less than a minute, Georgetown struck again to give them a 3-1 cushion with 16 minutes left in regulation. The Hoyas took the ball up the left of the field and found Derek Dodson in the goal area who scored.
- Georgetown outshot Providence 10-6 in the second half.

LOOKING AHEAD
The Friars will await selection for the NCAA Tournament. The 48-team field for the Division I NCAA Men's Soccer Championship will be unveiled on Monday, Nov. 18 at 1:00 p.m. on NCAA.com. Competition begins with the First Round on Thursday, Nov. 21. The top 16 teams in the field will receive byes and compete in the Second Round on Sunday, Nov. 24. Both rounds will be held on campus sites.
