ORONO, Maine – The Providence College women's hockey team fell in overtime to the Maine Black Bears, 5-4, on Friday, Nov. 15 in Orono, Maine. Providence led 4-3 late in the third period but allowed the game-tying goal with 54 seconds remaining. Providence dropped to 4-6-2 on the season and 2-4-1 in Hockey East play.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
- Maine struck first just 1:17 into the first period of play on the power play after
Sara Hjalmarsson (Bankeryd, Sweden) was called for tripping. Liga Miljone slid the puck across the crease and Brittany Colton stopped it with her skate before sliding the puck in the net on the doorstep.
- The Black Bears increased their lead to 2-0 6:18 into the opening frame. Vendula Pribylova brought the puck across the ice before returning a pass to the right post which was tapped in by Tereza Vanisova.
- Hjalmarsson netted her fourth goal of the season to bring the Friars within one just 14 seconds later (2-1). She ripped a wrist shot top shelf over the goaltender's right shoulder.
- The Friars converted on the power play with five minutes remaining in the period to tie the game at 2-2.
Neve Van Pelt (Mitchell, Ontario) delivered the puck to
Meaghan Rickard (Coventry, R.I.) from behind the net and she finished with a one-timer in front of the crease.
- Providence and Maine traded goals in the middle frame and headed to the third period tied, 3-3.
- Nicole Pateman converted for the Black Bears to take a 3-2 lead 10:23 into the second period. Pateman put a low slap shot from the top of the left circle that slipped under Abstreiter.

Whitney Dove (Port Moody, British Columbia) found the equalizer with 1:06 remaining in the second period. She finished a wrist shot through traffic for Providence's second power play goal of the game. The goal marked Dove's second of the season while Van Pelt picked up her second assist of the season, Burton recorded her fourth assist of her freshman campaign.
- Providence took its first lead of the afternoon 2:18 into the third period. The Friars won a faceoff in the neutral zone before passing through the Maine's skaters, leaving
Kathleen McHugh (Billerica, Mass.) with a one-on-one breakaway. McHugh put a wrister over the goaltenders left shoulder for her first goal of the season.
Caroline Peterson (East Falmouth, Mass.) was credited with her first assist of the season while Dove picked up her team-high eighth assist of the season.
- Maine found the equalizer with just 54 seconds remaining in the third. Van Pelt went to the penalty box for holding the stick as Ida Kuoppala finished a slap shot on the power play past Abstreiter for the Black Bears.
- The Black Bears scored the game-winner with 1:08 remaining in the overtime period. Colton put a puck on the edge of the crease that Vanisova punched home.
- Dove and Rickard each tallied their second multi-point performance of the year.
