Women's Tennis Falls in Weekend Matches Against UMass, Boston University

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College women's tennis team kicked off the spring schedule this past weekend, suffering setbacks to UMass and Boston University on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
On Saturday against the Minutewomen, the Friars fell 7-0 after UMass swept all singles and doubles matches. On Sunday against the Terriers, Providence dropped a 6-1 decision. Risa Takenaka (St. Charles, Mo.) rallied for one of her most impressive victories of her career, a 0-6, 6-4, 10-7 triumph over Boston University's Emily Kim in the No. 1 singles match. The Terriers claimed the other five singles matches in straight sets.
The Friars return to action on Saturday, Feb. 9 against Siena College. Match time is set for 10:45 a.m. at Centre Court in East Providence, R.I.
