PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College women's soccer team defeated Brown, 2-0, on Thursday, Sept. 6 on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium in a battle of cross-city rivals.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
- The Friars held a commanding 13-0 advantage in shots at the end of the first half.
- Camille Murphy (Seattle, Wash.) paced Providence with four shots, two on target in the first half.
- Hannah McNulty (Warwick, R.I.) and Hailee Duserick (Canton, Mass.) each rang the crossbar in the opening half.
- Sophomore Amber Birchwell (Mastic, N.Y.) notched her second goal of the season on assists from Duserick and Kayla Steeves (Needham, Mass.).
- The game was delayed by lightning for 30 minutes at the end of the first half.
- Brown registered all six shots in the second half while making a push for the equalizer.
- McNulty added an insurance goal in the 87th minute. Theresa Durkee (Salem, Conn.) set up the play by running onto a ball about 10 yards outside the 18-yard box. The goalkeeper left her line to deflect the ball away from Durkee, but McNulty cleaned it up and lofted a shot over the defense and in.
- Hogan finished the night with three saves to record her fourth shutout of the season. On the opposing side, Christine Etzel tallied eight saves on 21 shots for the Bears.
