BERKELEY, CALIF. - The Providence College field hockey team fell to California in its season opener, 5-1, on Aug. 24 in Berkeley, Calif. The two teams competed evenly until the Golden Bears scored a pair of goals within a span of 1:23 late in the first half, and Cal took control from there.
