The Providence College Women's Tennis team traveled to Villanova today to take on the Wildcats in a BIG EAST matchup. The Friars were defeated 5-2 in a competitive match.
The doubles point went to Villanova early after a strong performance. The Friars fought the point hard until the end, but it was not enough to overcome Villanova's quick start. Natalie Pitocco and Sera Satkowski began Doubles 3 down 0-4 before winning 3 straight games, ultimately losing 6-3.
In Singles no. 1, Risa Takenaka continued her recent streak of success on the scoreboard, winning the match in a tiebreaker 10-3. Sera Satkowski also won a point for the second straight match, taking Singles no. 6 by a score of 6-3, 6-4.
Risa Takenaka said after the match, "This has been a great weekend for the team chemistry already. Any time we play in the BIG EAST it's exciting, and I'm looking forward to playing again tomorrow."
The Friars continue the weekend with their final BIG EAST matchup of the year as they travel to New York to take on St. John's. The match is tentatively scheduled for noon, dependent on weather.
