Women's Tennis Drops Match At St. John's

The Providence College Women's Tennis team continued their weekend road trip visiting St. John's at the USTF National Tennis Center. In their BIG EAST finale, the Friars fell to last year's conference finalist 7-0 in a tough match.
The Friars hoped to establish momentum early in the doubles point but lost some key points. Aidan Epstein and Risa Takenaka battled out from a 5-1 hole but could not overcome their opponents in a 6-3 defeat.
In Singles, the Friars competed well but were unable to string together a series of winning games. Junior Risa Takenaka faced a tough start but fought her opponent strong in a 6-2, 6-1 defeat in Singles no. 1. Freshman Lauryn Jacobs shook off a difficult first set in Singles no. 3 to win a few big games in the second in her 6-1, 6-3 loss.
The Friars return to match play on Thursday, April 12, to host Quinnipiac on Senior Day. The match will also be the team's Pink-Out day. Free pink t-shirts will be available to the first 75 fans in attendance. The match will begin at 3:00pm.
