Providence, R.I. -
The Providence College Women's Tennis team took on in-state rival Bryant today, Mar. 27, at Brown University's Pizzitola Center. The Friars' string of bad luck continued to haunt them, as they fell to the Bulldogs 7-0.
The Friars began the match slow by dropping the doubles point to Bryant. The Bulldogs clinched the point early, preventing a strong performance in Doubles no. 2 by Katie Marvin and Sera Satkowski, whose match went unfinished after battling to a 5-5 score.
In Singles, the Friars' were unable to finish off their opponents in the close matches today. Junior Risa Takenaka played a long, tough match in Singles no. 1, dropping tiebreakers in both sets to lose 7-6, 7-6. Freshman Lauryn Jacobs started her match strong in Singles no. 4, but could not prevent her opponent from rallying to a 6-4, 6-1 victory.
The Friars continue match play by welcoming Sacred Heart on Wednesday, Mar. 28. The match will be played on the Providence College Tennis Courts, beginning at 3:00p.m.
