Women's Tennis Picks Up Big Win Over Sacred Heart

The Providence College Women's Tennis team hosted it's first outdoor match of 2018 on the Providence College Tennis Courts. The Friars took on Sacred Heart, posting a 5-2 victory over the Pioneers, as the team remains undefeated on home courts this season.
The Friars started the match strong in Doubles. Katie Marvin and Sera Satkowski put together a quick 6-2 win in Doubles no. 2, while Risa Takenaka and Aidan Epstein clinched the point in Doubles no. 1 with a 6-4 victory.
In Singles, the Friars were able to win some of the close games which had plagued them in prior matches. Senior Katie Marvin shook off a difficult Singles defeat the day before with a commanding 6-1, 6-4 win in Singles no. 4. Junior Risa Takenaka posted a strong 6-2, 6-1 victory in Singles no. 1 as well. Freshman Sera Satkowski rode a 7-5 tiebreaker victory in her first set to a 7-6, 6-3 win in Singles no. 6, while sophomore Natalie Pitocco rallied from a tough first set to win 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 in Singles no. 5.
Head coach Jakob Klaeson was impressed with the team's performance, saying after the match, "We kept working on improving our games, and it showed today. It's great to see all of the hard work and improvement that we've had in practice finally show in the scores."
The Friars return to match play next week, as they welcome Bentley to the Providence College Tennis Courts. The match is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 5.
