Women's Tennis Defeated by Stony Brook

The Providence College Women's Tennis team returned to match play on Friday, Mar. 16, against Stony Brook. The Friars fell to the Seawolves 7-0 in a hard fought match which the Friars hosted at Brown University.
The Friars dropped the doubles point early, as Risa Takenaka and Aidan Epstein were defeated on court 1 by a score of 6-2. Meanwhile, Katie Marvin and Sera Satkowski fell 6-3 on court 2.
In Singles play, the Friars rallied from difficult first sets but were unable to secure a victory as Stony Brook swept the match. Senior Katie Marvin had a particularly strong second set, as she fought her opponent to difficult 6-0, 6-4 loss in a match featuring deuce points in many of the games. Sophomore Aidan Epstein also had a strong match in Singles 3, losing 6-4, 6-3.
Head coach Jakob Klaeson was enthusiastic about the team's performance, despite the loss, saying "I'm very excited about our future. We did very well in the match and everyone is progressing forward."
The Friars return to Brown University to take on the Bears on Thursday, Mar. 22, at 3:30pm.
