Riverside, R.I. -
The Providence College Women's Tennis team concluded their Spring Break schedule today with a home match against Marist University. After a hard-fought match, the Friars came up just short, losing 4-3.
The doubles point proved to be the decider, which Marist secured through wins in Doubles no. 2 and 3.
In singles, Risa Takenaka came up with a quick 6-2, 6-4 win to level the match on Court 1. Aidan Epstein also secured a point for PC in Singles 3, 4-6, 6-4, 10-5 before Marist put the score out of reach.
Head coach Jakob Klaeson said afterward, "A match like this will come down to a couple of points here and there. Marist was able to win those points and that made the difference today. The whole team did a great job competing and I feel we are on the right track."
The Friars return to match play on Friday, Mar. 16, to host Stony Brook. The match will be played at Brown University, beginning at 7:00pm.
