BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Providence College men's and women's cross-teams competed against nationally and regionally ranked teams at the NCAA Northeast Regional Meet today (Nov. 9) in Buffalo, N.Y. The men placed 20
th, while the women placed 10
th.
For the women's 6k race, graduate student Regan Rome (Dalla, Pa.) finished first for Friars in the competitive field. Rome went out in the top-50 and improved her position through the cold and snowy 6k race. She finished 28
th(22:30.9) overall.
Junior Abbey Wheeler (Elmira, N.Y.) and sophomore Maria Coffin (Annapolis, Md.) were the second and third runners across the line for Providence. Wheeler finished 33
rdoverall, while Coffin finished 65
th.
Rounding out the top-five was junior Alex DeCicco (Sachem, N.Y.) and freshman Hannah McReavy (Colorado Springs, Colo.) placing 114
thand 132
nd, respectively.
On the men's side, sophomore
Ryan Gallagher (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.) was the first Friar to cross the line in the stormy conditions. Gallagher went out in the top-70 and maintained his position throughout the first half of the 10k race. The last 2,000 meters Gallagher improved his position to finish 56
th overall.
Senior
Marcus Karamanolis (Wellington, New Zealand) and graduate student
Michael Wyman (Marion, Mass.) were the second and third Friars across the line. Karamanolis placed 94
thoverall, while Wyman was not far behind placing 104
th.
Rounding out the top-five was sophomore
Marcelo Rocha (Peabody, Mass.) and senior
Austin Scola (Medfield, Mass.) finishing 118
thand 125
th, respectively.
