Women’s Soccer Places Three Players On United Soccer Coaches All-East Regional Team

Graduating senior Katie Day was named to the Second Team while sophomores Shelby Hogan and Hannah McNulty earned Third Team honors.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – United Soccer Coaches announced its regional teams today (Nov. 27). Three Providence College women's soccer players earned recognition among the All-East Regional Team. The three players mark the most in program history. Katie Day (East Kingston, N.H.) was named to the All-East Region Second Team while classmates Shelby Hogan (Franklin, Mass.) and Hannah McNulty (Warwick, R.I.) earned All-East Region Third Team honors.
 
Day closed out a remarkable career earning BIG EAST First Team honors for the second-consecutive season after leading the defense to a tie for the program record in shutouts in 2018 (10). She helped the team reach their fifth-consecutive BIG EAST Tournament and second-consecutive semifinal. She has not missed a start since her freshman season, recording 60 straight starts since 2016. Day finished her career with five goals and two assists for 12 points, she scored one goal this season that proved to be a game-winner against Marquette on Nov. 7.
 
Hogan in her second season as the starting goalkeeper had a breakout season. She was named BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week three times resulting from a career-high 10 shutouts, which tied the program record. She posted a 0.77 goals-against average and earned a 0.856 save percentage, starting every game for the Friars this season. Her play on the field awarded her with All-BIG EAST Second Team recognition, including being named to the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team.
 
On the offensive side McNulty led the Friars in shots (84), goals (10) and points (24) this season. McNulty's 10 goals ranked her third in the BIG EAST as she played in all 20 games this season. She scored four game-winning goals and tallied three multi-goal games.
 
United Soccer Coaches serves as the recognized leader in naming All-Region and All-America soccer players. United Soccer Coaches selects All-America teams at every level of play. Nearly 800 players each year are named United Soccer Coaches All-Americans and are invited to the convention to be honored at a special luncheon.
