Field Hockey Falls To 15th-Ranked Liberty In BIG EAST Semifinals

The Friars conclude their season with an 11-8 record.

LYNCHBURG, VA. – The Providence College field hockey team fell to 15th-ranked Liberty, 4-0, in the BIG EAST Semifinals on Nov. 2 in Lynchburg, Va.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS & NOTES
- Liberty scored three goals in the first half, all of which came off of penalty corners.
- Providence was awarded a penalty stroke at 23:36, but Allyson Parker's (Orange, Mass.) opportunity was stopped on a diving save.
- The Friars earned two penalty corners in the final minute of play. Maddie Babineau's (Milton, Ontario) attempt was saved on the first corner attempt. Parker took the shot attempt on the second corner, with no time left on the clock, but it was blocked.
- Liberty held an 8-5 advantage in shots (6-3 shots on goal) and a 6-2 edge in penalty corners.
- Providence kept the Flames in check for much of the second half, while also putting the pressure on offensively.  However, the Friars were unable to find the back of the cage.
- The Flames finished with a 23-12 edge in shots and 12-7 advantage in penalty corners.
