PROVIDENCE, R.I. –
Colin Miller (Bel Air, Md.) and
Gil Santos (Parede, Portugal) of Providence College men's soccer earned BIG EAST Weekly Awards, as announced by the league on Oct. 8. Miller was Goalkeeper of the Week, while Santos earned Freshman of the Week honors.
Miller improved his record to 6-4-1 with Saturday's 1-0 win over Marquette. He made four total saves, including three in the second half. He now has four shutouts on the season, including two in BIG EAST play. Miller's goals against average is 1.23 and his save percentage is 0.708.
Santos scored the game-winning goal for the Friars in the 90
th minute on Saturday. He made his first-career start in the match and totaled 66 minutes. Santos now has seven points on the season, off of three goals and an assist. Two of his goals, including Saturday's, have been game-winners. He leads the BIG EAST in points and goals per game during conference play.
Both Miller and Santos had been previously named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. This is the first major weekly award for each of them this season.
