Women's Tennis Defeated by UC-Irvine, 6-1

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College women's tennis team dropped a dual match to the University of California-Irvine today by a score of 6-1 at the Providence College Tennis Courts.

UC-Irvine grabbed the doubles point to begin the match, before senior Risa Takenaka posted a win in No. 1 singles against the Anteaters' Stephanie Nguyen. The visitors claimed all remaining singles matches for the 6-1 win.

"Risa has put in a lot of extra work this summer both on and off the court," Head Coach Jakob Klaeson said. "It's no surprise that she has had such a good fall. It's nice to see her hard work pay off with a strong performance today."

The match concluded the Friars' fall schedule and they will return to action on Jan. 26, 2019 against UMass to begin the spring dual match schedule.
