PROVIDENCE, R.I. –
Steven Kilday (Marshfield, Mass.) of the Providence College men's soccer team was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week today (Oct. 15). Freshman
Ramzi Qawasmy (Landsdale, Pa.) was also named to the Weekly Honor Roll.
Kilday scored the double-overtime game-winner at Seton Hall, improving the Friars' league record to 4-1-0. The goal was the first of the season for Kilday and came on his lone shot in the game. He's made nine appearances for the Friars this season. As part of the defensive unit, Kilday has helped Providence to three-consecutive shutouts. The team's shutout streak currently stands at 284:11.
Qawasmy has started all 12 games in the backline for the Friars this season. He played all 102 minutes of Saturday's match at Seton Hall, helping Providence to a third-straight shutout. As part of the defense, he helped limit the Pirates to just five shots, none of which were on goal. Qawasmy also tallied a season-high in shots on Saturday, with three.
Providence travels to Brown for its final non-conference tilt tomorrow (Oct. 16). Kick-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
