DELAND, FLA. - The Providence College Volleyball team continued its hot start to the season on Saturday, Sept. 2 when they defeated Bucknell and Stetson on the second day of the Hatter Classic in DeLand, Fla. The Friars have begun the season with a 6-0 record.
Match notes against Bucknell:
-Sophomore Addison Root (Wichita, Kan.) was the key player for the Friars against Bucknell as she recorded a double double, with 17 kills and 14 digs.
-Junior Allison Impellizeri (Seaford, N.Y.) tallied 12 kills in the win for Providence.
-Freshman Allison Barber (Woodbury, Minn.) also recorded a double double as she tallied 36 assists and 21 digs.
-Sophomore Jenae Alderson (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) contributed 10 digs for the Friars.
Match notes against Stetson:
-Alderson led the Friars with 15 and nine digs.
-Impellizeri added nine kills and four blocks in the win.
-McKenzie Lydon (Stuart, Fla.) had 16 digs in three sets for the Friars.
-The Friars have won 18 of the last 22 sets.
Next Up: The Friars compete next at the 13th annual Friar Classic Volleyball tournament on Sept. 8-9. Providence will welcome Holy Cross, Fairleigh Dickinson, St. Francis (N.Y.), and Rider to the first home matches of the year.
