GAME FLOW & NOTES
- With just over three minutes remaining in the first half, URI's Stavros Zarokostas scored his second goal of the season. He played a short corner to Ludvik Benco, got the ball back and placed a one-time shot past Miller.
- Providence's best chance of the first half came early, just 1:52 into the game. Sophomore Alex DaCosta came streaking through the midfield and tried to chip the goalkeeper. Senior goalkeeper Nils Leifhelm was able to keep the Friars off the board with a fingertip save.
- DaCosta ended up scoring the equalizer for Providence with under three minutes remaining in regulation. Liam Wilson played a long ball from the back, which Mac Steeves flicked on. DaCosta was able to pick up the ball and finish into an open net to force overtime.
- With only 10 seconds remaining in the second overtime period, Steven Kilday scored the game-winner. Steeves took a long throw into the box and Kilday was there to head it in at the right post.
- Both DaCosta and Kilday picked up their first goal of the season and second of their careers.
- Steeves recorded two assists in the game. The points mark his first since the 2015 season. He now has 65 total points on his career.
- Providence has played all three goalkeepers on the roster already this season. Miller earned his first start of the season tonight and made five saves in the win.
- This is the second consecutive year that the Friars and Rams went to double overtime. Last year, the Rams came out on top 2-1.
