PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Sophomore Allyson Parker (Orange, Mass.) scored the game's lone goal with just under nine minutes to play as the Providence College field hockey team defeated No. 24 Maine, 1-0, on Friday afternoon at Lennon Family Field.

GAME FLOW & NOTES.
- The teams battled through a scoreless first half with the Friars holding a 4-3 edge in shots.
- Maine's Emma Cochran turned away three shots in the first half, while Friar netminder Megan Guilbert (Morganville, N.J.) stopped two shots in the opening 35 minutes.
- Providence grabbed the game's first and only goal as Parker's initial shot was stopped by Cochran, but the sophomore put back the rebound in a scrum to make it a 1-0 game at 61:27.
- The Providence defense held firm in the final minutes as the Black Bears couldn't convert on three second half penalty corners.
- Guilbert posted her fourth career shutout after totaling four saves on the afternoon.
- Parker's goal was her first collegiate goal after appearing in 14 games as a freshman with the Friars in 2016.
