The Providence College women's ice hockey team tied the University of Vermont Catamounts on Feb. 10, 2017. Providence moves to 14-14-3 and 9-9-3 in Hockey East while Vermont moves to 12-10-9 and 8-6-7 in Hockey East.

Despite outshooting the Catamounts, 8-7, the Friars' fell victim to penalties in the first period. Vermont took a 1-0 lead at 15:13 with a power play goal from Rachel Ade.

The Friars responded with their own power play goal at 8:12 of the second period. Rachel Rockwell (Broadview Heights, Ohio) moved the puck from the center point to Meaghan Rickard (Coventry, R.I.) just outside the right post. Rickard shot the puck, deflected of off Vermont's Madison Litchfield's pad, and right to Neve Van Pelt (Mitchell, Ontario) on the opposite post for a tap in goal. The goal marks Van Pelt's third on the power play and fifth of her career.

Providence added 17 shots in the second period, nine of which were on the power play. The Friars held the Catamounts to five shots in the second period and only two power play shots.

At 5:59 of the third, Victoria Andreakos scored to give the Catamounts the lead, 2-1.

Meaghan Rickard scored with less than one second remaining in regulation to push the game into overtime. Cassidy Carels (Bruxelles, Maintoba) moved the puck off the wall to Christina Putigna (Grimsby, Ontario) who then fed Rickard in the slot. Rickard ripped a shot to the top corner of the net to tie the game, 2-2.

The Friars finished the game with 40 shots while Madison Myers (Colchester, Vt.) made 20 saves.

Providence returns to action on Sunday, Feb. 12 at Merrimack College for a 2:00 p.m. puck drop.
