PROVIDENCE, R.I. -
The Providence College men's and women's swimming and diving programs have earned national recognition for high achievement in the classroom. The College Swimming Coaches' Association of America (CSCAA) announced its honorees for the 2016 Fall Semester Scholar All-America Award on January 25.
The Friar men averaged a 3.04 GPA while the women posted a 3.38.
The organization recognized a record 638 teams, representing 394 colleges and universities as Scholar All-America teams. The recognition comes as a result of each team's classroom performance during the 2016 Fall Semester.
To be selected as a CSCAA Scholar All-America Team, programs must have achieved a grade-point average of 3.00 or higher during the 2016 Fall Semester. Top teams were recognized for both large teams (more than 22 women or 21 men) and small.
