PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College cross country programs were both ranked in the latest USTFCCCA national poll on Sept. 20. The women’s team moved up to second in the nation while the men dropped from 20th to 31st.
The women’s team received this ranking after an impressive performance at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown Invitational. The Friars had their entire top seven place in the top 20. Most notably, Providence took the three through seven spots with a seven second spread between its first and fifth runner to win the meet with 25 points. Providence is now ranked only behind last year's NCAA Champions, New Mexico. The top two teams are only separated by five points (351-346).
The men’s team also competed at the Beantown Invitational, finishing second behind fellow Northeast school, Dartmouth College. The Friars are now ranked 31st in the nation.
The Friars’s next race will be the Notre Dame Invitational on Sept. 30 in South Bend, Ind.
